SafeSight Insights - Reconcilable Differences

Step 1 – Develop in motion LiDAR utility that creates access to areas that today are

inaccessible to traditional CMS. Integrating the latest LiDAR, drone and IMU technology

allows for the creation of point cloud and 3D model data.

Step 2 – Actuate LiDAR scanning technology using drones (SafeSight DB2) and droids

(SafeSight GroundScan) to allow for deeper access into the stope. Why drones and

droids? With over 50+ missions under our belt and 100 scans we recognize that there

will always be reasons when flight is not a fit. In these instances, our ground game -

LiDAR in motion tools, SafeScanner and Ground Scan ensures that we gather the data.

This Innovation ensure full access to the target environment, scan 600,000 points per

second and can be executed in less that 20 minutes. This is less that half the time of a

traditional CMS tool. Point cloud data is produced on board in under 2 hours.


Our field work has given us the following insight. Using droid enabled LiDAR can create greater access where CMS was not possible. LiDAR Drone scans reduced or eliminate the scan shadows and the estimation error it creates. Let’s assume that the average shadow creation from missing data covers 25% of the stopes surface and the ‘error’ from the estimation process is approximately 5% of that area. In a site operation with an annual tonnage of 430,000 and a grade of 10 gpt, this could generate an additional $307,000 of production value annually from a $150,000 LiDAR in motion investment.
